Our month here in the old town of Cascais is time we want to use exploring and finding out places we love to visit, eat at, shop at… all those things that get you out of the house. It’s a quick taxi ride from our new house so we intend to come two or three times a week. Taxi, did she say taxi? We’re still holding out about not needing a car but an old one may be in our future – the buses don’t take dogs!
Sunday was an outing. We made our way down to the old town center and mingled with people trying to stay six feet apart but wearing our masks faithfully. Ugghh. Locals and tourists in equal numbers I think. Weekends, things close here, but not the restaurants or the street vendors or the beach.
It was a glorious day with the Med at its absolute best, rippling and aqua blue. We wandered the promenade.

We popped by a French bakery for a take home dinner of sandwiches and took the opportunity for a drink.

Then we decided it was time for a late lunch – restaurants close here at three and don’t open again until 7 – 7:30 in the evening so we could dilly dally no longer. Heading towards a little lane we’ve wanted to dine in since we arrived, we chose “The Grill” out of about six restaurants with outside seating in the street. We have a hankering for meat, lots of pastry, fruit and cheese in our diet but little meat. Live music played just around one corner which we tried to record but the wind was just too loud. We could hear it though and people were singing, cheering and clapping – pretty damn cool for a Sunday afternoon in an alleyway. So over wine and the best olives on the planet, Mark and I wiled away the afternoon.
You both look marvelous! Loving the photos, and especially the accidental selfies–keep them coming! xx

Wait. In this post you said, “…a quick taxi ride from our new house.” NEW HOUSE? Is that the one referred to as possible nest? If so, GREAT! It’s wonderful. If not, let’s see/hear more about the new house please. š Love!

We have decided on the possible nest for a bit. We love it and are tired of suitcases and need an address for paperwork!
