The Lap of Luxury

Saturday in a piece of self indulgent heaven. The Land of the Entitled – a place curious and nice to visit but not somewhere we’d want to stay. We prefer the ease of talking and laughing with our servers, not something that feels permitted with all the cool but intensely eager to please staff. I sound like I’m complaining, I’m not. I feel privileged to be in this lovely place with views and smells to make you swoon. The comfort is welcome and enjoyed and well beyond our daily needs. It’s a moment out of time. And it’s always valuable to reaffirm you don’t yearn for this life really.

Oddly, my greatest yearnings are face cloths and paper towels. I like these in my life – who knew. And that IS the journey we are on, to find out what we actually value – I wouldn’t have thought these two items would loom so large. Paper towels are available here, of course, even bought some at the last place, but I’ve not seen a face cloth which I assume, and hope, is merely because the right place hasn’t come along yet. Learning to use showers is another mystery for me – we’ve learned Mark must head in first, fiddle with knobs and levers, then give me a tutorial. He wisely did this at the guest house – not so here and I ended up using the handheld only, lol, for my first shower. A million little new things. It’s good to have a sense of humour. As a truly awe inspiring note, the bidet has a dryer. I’d read about these but only in Japan. Wonderful.

We are also yearning for a nest. A place to call home for a little while…searching.

  1. So what’s the story behind this luxury golf resort stay? Was it just something Mark wanted to see/experience – the golf course? Did y’all have a friend or personal invitation? Just curious, as always! BTW, to comment it says click on an icon. Is there a way for me to get my own icon so I need not fill in name and email every time I comment?
