Our first sit down dinner

We’d been told about a little restaurant from another American couple and we walked to it this evening. Happily we could sit outside with River although we were prepared to buy takeout and cart it back to Casa Vela, our temporary home. Tables were set up on the street, mussel pate, bread and olives put on the table as we sat. We ordered wine and soaked up our new life, toasting, so bloody relieved to be there, at that table, at that moment. Fish was delicious, cod in olive oil and garlic for me, scampi for Mark. We’d order our sides differently next time but that’s part of the learning and the fun. Complementary port finished our meal and I, no surprise to anyone, adore port, drank mine and Mark’s so I’m just a bit tipsy as I write this. A night to remember and to be thankful for. Obrigada. Boa noite.

  1. Just saw this one, Lesley! Yes, it is wonderful to eat with the doggie – sometimes we get stuck at an odd table but hey, that’s okay. It’s up to the proprietor I think as to whether they allow dogs. Portugal isn’t quite as friendly as France on that count.
