Our first morning walk into the center of Cascais

The streets are beautiful, treacherous, but gorgeous. Tree roots are tiled over which is wonderful for the tree but look down ye humans, watch your feet. As you can see from the picture, I’m happily ambling head up in the air – so far, so good but I need to learn this before my inevitable fall. The mid morning light is crisp making the colors dazzle and explode. We saw our first beach, a small one with calm waters, bobbing boats anchored willy nilly and families camped on the sand, children dashing about while old men gathered on the boulevard talking loudly to each other in their soft, musical Portuguese. The bakeries are marvelous, busy with impossibly tempting shelves – I point well! We sipped coffee at a little table under the trees in an outdoor market by a green common with a tiny carousel.
